HAIR & MAKEUP

Wedding hair and makeup is an art in itself. Just as choosing the right photographer is key, your makeup can finish your look off and complete the picture you had in mind for your day.
For some, wearing more than a little blush and some mascara is completely foreign (I fell into this category), for others you wear makeup daily but have been doing the same ‘going-out’ makeup for years. I think its also safe to assume there are a group of brides-to-be out there that have played with different looks like smokey eyes and bright lips already and know exactly what theyfancy. No matter where you fall, your makeup artist should be in tune with your theme, with your approach to makeup and the look you want to achieve on your day.

I don’t wear a lot of makeup and my husband-to-be had never seen me with a full face of it on! I wanted to keep it as natural as possible but understood that it was necessary, and knew it would make me feel like a ‘bride’. Having a consultation or trial is therefore vital. During my trial, my makeup artist covered up my freckles as some brides like this porcelin perfect finish. After this I discussed with her, that I’d prefer less coverage and on the day she mastered the classic and completely natural look I was after. Thankfully I had this trial as an opportunity to discuss what I did and didn’t want. Always ensure you are offered a trial!

Finding a makeup artist is hard work. Possibly one of the most difficult service providers to find. If you, like me, have noone who has recently been married who can recommend theirs – look no further. This page will only provide recommended makeup artists. They may not have been referred by someone you know, but you can trust these providers have come by a recommendation (with photos of their work which always helps!)
