I know this church and it is really quaint inside with a lot of detail and history brought in by the owners of the wine farm on which it is situated. It couldnt be a more intimate church. It also has plenty of parking outside and lovely spots for photos.
Our son was married in this beautiful community church on Friday 1st may 2009. I would love a copy of the history behind this lovely church and wonder if it is possible to email it to the above address. If not please let me know and perhaps you could post the A4 information which I know you have.
It was just an amazing occasion and we truly felt Gods presence with us. Thank you for allowing us to use this historical place of worship.
What an absolutely beautiful intimate place to exchange your vows. I had the pleasure of photographing Rowan and Leannes wedding on the 1st of May 2009 and their ceremony was held there. Absolutely beautiful. Photos will be up towards the end of May 2009 on my website http://www.photocreation.synthasite.com. What a real little piece of heaven! Joletta
I am planning my wedding in the winelands for next year. I would love to get married in a quaint church (like St Anthony’s). Does anybody know who I should contact to book this church?
Hi,
I am really interested in getting married in this chapel, but have been unable to find any details for them anywhere. Does anyone have a contact number for me? Please!
Jessie
Thank you for all these loveley comments. Yes, I am the builder and owner of this Chapel. Here is the history of the chapel.
You can either phone the office at 021 881 3024 and speak to Marius Kotze or email us at nagenoeg@mweb.co.za or tamadirk@mweb.co.za. I am actually not living on the farm anymore (I am still the owner – retired).
Thank you SO much for sending me the history of St Antonys in the Valley church. I am delighted to find this website and to see how many people feel the same way about this little community church as we did. May God continue to bless this place of worship which is used for His glory.
Thanks you to all these beautifull comments about St anthony’s. It actaully bringing tears to my eyes, I know we had a lot of weddings in the chapel and I know it makes an impact on people but I am very Blessed to be able to own this little chapel. To all the couple who has married there and want to get married there: “May you all be blessed and may all your dreams come true”
Best wishes

I am writing this comment from my little cottage on Madeira island and this island is full of the most beautifull churches and chapels. The inspiration for the stoep / verandah came actaully from a chapel here in the garden of the city centre of Funchal (The capital of the island). The chapel was build by Christopher Columbus and the stoep / verandah was build so the the tired traveller could rest before he entered the house of God.
I’m getting married at Skilpadvlei, and was desperately looking for a little church, and someone told me to visit St Anthony’s yesterday! Ah i fell in love at the site of this church – it’s absolutely beautiful! We could not go in, but just the outside told me THIS IS IT! Now i’m hoping and praying that it’s still available for my date!! I will use those mail’s and mail NOW
*does happy dance*
I know that feeling all too well! I hope they have the date you’re after! Let me know if Bride Abroad can you help you with any of your other plans!
In the magazine, LIG, (a SA Magazine) of Feb 2010 there is an article on the chapel.
I’m one of the people who has been lucky enough to get married here – in fact way back in 2002. I was googling some inforamtion on the church today when I found this site. We had a simply wonderful day, in this stunning church and I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather have been on my wedding day. We felt absolutely blessed after dithering for so many years, to finally take our vows in such a peaceful tranquil setting. (thanks Alix for finding it for us) Schalk was lovely and kind and ours was a really intimate wedding and our guests were enchanted by the venue. We went back to SA to visit earlier on this year, and actually went to see the church (and thank you yet again) again, but there are some new gates there and we just went on spec with no contact details (!) Next time we’ll email / phone first. If you’re into the honesty of a venue for a very important commitment – then this has to be the best possible place to use. (and the wine estates nearby for dinner make life quite easy)… Soverby guest house is right along the road and also great….
